Albion Online received Dragonfire Patch 1 on September 8, bringing an early round of tuning for the Dragonfire update. The most immediate difference is easier access to Ancient Lands, although the patch also changes several Dragon Sanctuary mechanics and reduces the sustain provided by Oathkeepers.
Ancient Lands should be easier to enter
Portal timing was the main target of this update. Small portals now remain locked for 15 minutes rather than 30, while their post-unlock entry window grows from 3 to 8 minutes. Medium portals allow 5 minutes to enter instead of 3. Large portals also receive a longer 60-minute lifetime, up from 45 minutes, and a 5-minute entry window.
Every Ancient Lands portal is now shown on the World Map regardless of the player’s distance. That should reduce time spent searching before a group can even begin coordinating its entry.
Progress inside the group variants has been accelerated as well:
- regular enemies in large-group encounters have 50% less health;
- drakes retain their previous health;
- island quests require players to defeat 50% of the island’s mobs instead of collecting a fixed amount of Fame;
- marmots do not contribute to the new completion requirement.
These settings may not be permanent. The developers still want Ancient Lands to appear as an opportunity encountered during normal play rather than content that is continuously available, so portal timings could be revised again.
Dragon Sanctuary receives targeted tuning
The sanctuary changes address individual interactions rather than applying a blanket difficulty reduction. Maeve’s boulders will no longer dash during Primal Dragon Flame, resolving an uncommon behavior. Her Rock Spike stacks also disappear properly when the effect expires; that issue was visual and did not alter combat results.
Azaryon’s Inferno now becomes considerably more lethal near the end of the attack. The adjustment is designed to punish players who completely ignore the requirement to shelter behind rocks, not to raise the intended difficulty for groups performing the mechanic correctly.
Lingering Dragon Spirit has been shortened by approximately two hours. This should make it easier for established groups to maintain the same weekly raid schedule. More tuning remains possible as the developers review progression, encounter data, and results from Tier 8.1 and higher runs.
Oathkeepers lose sustain as several bugs are fixed
Blessed Aurora’s auto-attack healing on Oathkeepers has dropped from 66 to 50. Players using the weapon will need to account for the lower recovery rather than assuming their previous sustain remains unchanged.
Among the Ancient Lands fixes, Blessings should no longer disappear on knockdown or death. The patch also corrects certain mobs awarding too much Silver, without changing chest loot, and makes defeated Mammoth Hunters count toward their Albion Journal objective. A damage-over-time defeat can no longer leave a player invulnerable instead of moving them into Bleedout.
Destiny Board specialization panels can now be dismissed by clicking elsewhere on the board. Hovered nodes have been scaled down to prevent overlap, item icons are larger, and filtering for blocked language in chat and player-created names has been improved.
What this means for players using software
The changelog does not announce an anti-cheat update. There is therefore no patch-specific reason to replace an HWID spoofer or make identity-related changes solely because Dragonfire Patch 1 arrived. That does not guarantee immediate compatibility, however: client patches can invalidate offsets, signatures, or modules that depend on the game’s current data structures.
Check the software update status page before loading an existing build. If support for the patched client has not been confirmed, waiting is safer than testing an outdated module in a live session. Available options can be reviewed in the Albion Online software catalog, with compatibility verified separately for each build.
Configuration also matters here. Portal timers and map overlays may still contain the old lock, entry, and lifetime values, while Oathkeepers profiles built around 66 healing should be recalibrated for 50. Since distant Ancient Lands portals are now visible through the standard World Map, stale third-party portal data may provide less value and can actively send a group toward the wrong timing window.
