On May 26, 2026 Behaviour Interactive opened Public Test Build 10.0.0, and it contains what Dead by Daylight fans have been waiting for since 2014: Jason Voorhees is officially a killer in DBD. It’s the first legendary crossover of 2026 and the climax of a years-long licensing tangle between Horror Inc, Sean S. Cunningham, Victor Miller and Warner Bros.
The PTB patch notes are already on Steam Community. Jason gets a unique killer kit, his M2 ability is invisibility + hook-toss. Let’s go over what that means for the meta — and for DBD software users.
Jason’s kit (PTB 10.0.0)
- Stalk Mode (hold M2) — Jason goes semi-transparent, -10% attack speed, +5% move speed. Survivors only see a faint heat-shimmer in the air.
- Hook Toss (tap M2) — throws a hook ~12 meters; if it hits a survivor, they’re instantly hooked at the nearest valid hook spot.
- Power up — Camp Crystal Lake — on the dedicated Camp Crystal Lake map, Jason gets extra triggers (e.g. crossing the lake gives a “second wind”: +1 stake charge).
- Mori animation — the signature Friday the 13th scene with the mask and machete.
- Add-ons — 20 unique add-ons, including “Sleeping Bag” (instant-down on the final survivor).
Why this matters
Jason in DBD is the most requested crossover in the game’s entire history. Behaviour has added Michael Myers, Ghost Face, Sadako from The Ring — but Jason has always been in licensing limbo. Friday the 13th: The Game died in 2020 specifically because Gun Media and partners couldn’t continue development under that same dispute.
For DBD as a product, this means:
- Peak CCU during the first PTB weekend. Historic baseline: Pyramid Head (Silent Hill, 2020) lifted average CCU by +90%.
- DLC sales spike. Behaviour internally projects the Friday the 13th DLC will become the best-selling killer pack in DBD history.
- Horror meta revival. Survivor mains have spent the last six months complaining about “easy” Singularity and weak killers; Jason is a sharp swing the other way.
What it means for DBD software users
- PTB runs for 2 weeks. Behaviour deliberately doesn’t ban on PTB — it’s a test environment. Use PTB to test software, but never run a PTB build on live without an HWID swap.
- EAC is active on PTB too. Easy Anti-Cheat now runs in a half-mode: it collects data on suspicious behavior but doesn’t ban. If your HWID lands on the “watch list”, 2–3 weeks after the live Jason release a ban is possible.
- Killer configs tuned for Jason don’t exist yet. Standard ESP for the killer side works, but aim-assist for Hook Toss is useless — it’s not a projectile in the classic sense, it’s an AOE mechanic. Wait for software updates targeting live, not PTB.
- Survivor configs are mostly unaffected. Skill-check ESP, gen-tap automation, item-detect — all work as before. The one thing that shifts: Jason’s new killer AI can trigger ESP filters that weren’t trained on him.
When live drops
PTB closes on June 9, 2026, with the live release expected June 12–14 (Behaviour’s standard window). If you’re planning to play actively that weekend — update your anti-cheat bypass 24 hours before live, otherwise EAC may catch a stale signature during the mass-onboarding rush.
You should also expect an accompanying Camp Crystal Lake map update — a new map shipping with Jason. DBD maps change hit-box geometry and can break wall-hack ESP tuned for older objects. That’s the classic release-patch trap.
What to watch next
- PTB patch notes in detail — on Steam Community.
- June 9 — PTB closes, feedback intake.
- June 12–14 — Jason live release + new map.
- End of June — first balance patch after live.
- September 2026 — next crossover killer announcement (rumored: Pinhead from Hellraiser).
For the DBD community, this is the biggest event of the year. For software users — a good reason to pause until live, refresh billing and your spoofer, and not show up on the test environment unless you really need to.
