🪓 Valve shipped the Dota 2 7.41d gameplay patch (June 5, 2026) — a targeted balance pass, but with one line that set all of Reddit talking. Here’s what actually changed, and why everyone’s staring at Axe.
Who got buffed
- Nature’s Prophet — living Treants now always contribute bonus damage, even out of range; the Sprout damage talent is stronger at level 20.
- Arc Warden — Flux cast range and movespeed slow increased, especially potent at rank one.
- Morphling — +7 base Agility, −9 Strength (a net +2 stats), with more attack/cast range and slow resistance.
- Wraith King — +2 base damage; Vampiric Spirit lifesteal starts at 20% but scales slower.
Who got nerfed
- Phoenix — weaker Fire Spirits attack-speed slow, hitting early-game ganks hardest.
- Legion Commander — Duel mana cost up to 80/100/120 (from 75).
- Ember Spirit — Sleight of Fist gives 10 less bonus hero damage; Mage Slayer damage cut by 3.
The Axe mystery
The patch quietly adds a line to Axe: “Sense of Foreboding increased from 0 to 0.5.” This isn’t a forgotten mechanic — so, as PCGamesN notes, the community reads it as a tease for an upcoming event or a new hero. Axe also took a genuine nerf — reduced Battle Hunger cast range and base health regen.
In smaller news: the Dagon recipe is 50 gold cheaper (250 gold of savings on Dagon 5), and Smoke of Deceit now broadcasts to allied chat.
What it means for players running software
This is a gameplay patch with no client change — offsets and signatures weren’t touched, so overlay software rides out this kind of update fine. What matters more:
- The meta shift beats your build. Buffs to Nature’s Prophet and Arc Warden will lift their pick/ban — factor that into the draft, not just your scripts.
