Apex Legends players are getting advance notice of the next balance pass rather than learning about it on release day. Announced on August 21 and targeted for early next week, with Tuesday morning given as the goal, the changes concentrate on weakening Axle while improving Bloodhound’s cloak and tracking tools. Seer also loses one disruptive effect from his Tactical.
Bloodhound gets better tracking and cloak uptime
Bloodhound’s adjustments are built around keeping information and concealment active for longer. Cloak visibility inside the dome will be reduced, while ring damage will no longer cancel the cloak. That removes one automatic way for an otherwise hidden Bloodhound to be exposed.
The Tactical scan is also being extended by one second. During a scan, target snapshots will arrive more frequently and then fade over time. Instead of relying on a single brief reveal, players should receive a clearer sequence showing where a scanned opponent is moving.
Together, these changes improve both sides of Bloodhound’s information game: the Legend becomes harder to spot under the stated cloak conditions while gaining more consistent updates on enemy positions.
Axle’s Ultimate takes the largest hit
Axle receives the longest list of changes. Nitro Gate’s launch speed is dropping from 750 to 700, but the more substantial reductions are reserved for the Ultimate:
- health falls from 200 to 150;
- the base cooldown rises from 90 to 120 seconds;
- knockback will follow a wider arc with a lower maximum height;
- stun duration is cut from 1.5 seconds to 0.25 seconds.
The shorter stun sharply reduces the window in which an affected enemy cannot respond. Lower health should also make the Ultimate easier to remove, and the longer cooldown raises the cost of wasting it. Changes to the knockback arc may alter familiar follow-up angles even when the ability still connects as intended.
Jump Gate is being replaced by a new upgrade called Drone Deployer. Selecting that upgrade will return the Ultimate cooldown to 90 seconds. The announcement does not explain any other Drone Deployer behavior, so its broader impact cannot yet be assessed from these notes.
Seer loses part of the Tactical disruption
Seer’s Tactical will no longer apply a turn slow when it hits. The published list does not describe changes to its other effects, but removing the turn penalty should make it easier for a target to react immediately after being caught.
This creates a clear contrast within the same balance pass. Bloodhound receives more persistent information, while Seer loses one way of interfering with an opponent’s response. Axle players, meanwhile, will need to adjust both their Ultimate timing and expectations for post-knockback follow-ups.
What this means for players using software
The announcement contains no anti-cheat changes; it is a character-balance notice. There is therefore no evidence here that a new HWID spoofer is required or that these adjustments represent an anti-cheat wave.
Compatibility still depends on how the update is delivered. A client executable change can move offsets or invalidate signatures used by internal, external, and DMA-based tools even when the visible patch notes only discuss abilities. Before launching after the update, check the software update statuses and wait for explicit support for the new client build. Configuration may need attention even if the software itself remains compatible. Aim profiles built around Axle’s old 1.5-second stun or previous knockback path may produce poorly timed follow-ups after the patch. If Drone Deployer introduces a separately tracked world entity, ESP filters may need an update to identify or label it correctly. Bloodhound’s more frequent scan snapshots, however, are part of the game’s native information system; they do not by themselves confirm any change to ESP behavior or third-party software detection.
