Embark published a detailed anti-cheat update for ARC Raiders on September 30, shortly before the larger game update scheduled for October 8. The announcement matters less for a single new feature than for a broader shift in enforcement: confirmed cheat use now brings a permanent ban, while sanctions can extend to licenses, linked accounts, and hardware.
Enforcement no longer stops at the first account
The clearest change is Embark’s policy for confirmed violations. The studio says it was previously too hesitant to permanently remove first-time offenders. Its current standard is an indefinite ban whenever an account is caught using a known cheat program, including on the first confirmed incident.
The surrounding restrictions have also been expanded:
- a sanctioned game license can be prevented from working with another account;
- accounts previously associated with a banned copy will also be permanently removed;
- hardware bans can stop ARC Raiders from running on a particular system;
- Embark has lowered the evidence threshold it uses when applying hardware sanctions;
- detection and penalties have improved for popular cheat tools and economy exploits.
This makes account replacement a much weaker fallback than it may have been before. The enforcement chain can include the account, the game copy, associated profiles, and the machine used to run the game.
Detection uses several sources of evidence
ARC Raiders does not rely on one anti-cheat product. Embark describes a layered setup combining Denuvo’s kernel-level protection, behavioral detection from Anybrain, and an expanding collection of internal models based on machine learning and other data.
Those systems are intended to build confidence from multiple signals before a sanction is issued. Appeals still involve human review, but the initial evidence can be accumulated across different detection layers. As a result, software running without an immediate kick or ban should not be assumed to have gone unnoticed.
Another technology, Elytra, is being tested on a limited basis in THE FINALS. Embark considers its early results promising and wants to reach a point where it can also be evaluated in ARC Raiders. The studio did not say that Elytra will be included in the October 8 update, so treating it as an already deployed ARC Raiders component would go beyond the announcement.
Hardware coverage may grow later
Embark is developing a solution that would let it target more systems with hardware bans. The company hopes to introduce that capability later in the year, although it provided neither an exact release date nor implementation details.
That distinction is important. Some measures in the announcement are already active, while others remain in testing or development. Embark also deliberately limits technical disclosure so that new defenses are not easier to work around.
What this means for players using software
The October 8 client update should be treated as a compatibility break until proven otherwise. Even without a named anti-cheat launch, changes to the executable can invalidate offsets, hooks, and injection methods. Running an older build immediately after the patch creates risk before vendors have had time to examine the new client.
Check the software update status page before starting a session rather than assuming that a tool still works because it launches. The ARC Raiders catalog for the current game version provides the relevant game-specific listings, but an updated label should never be interpreted as a guarantee against detection or sanctions.
A HWID spoofer should not be treated as a complete reset either. Embark is correlating penalties across hardware, licenses, game copies, and linked accounts; changing one category of identifier does not necessarily remove the others. With permanent bans now standard for confirmed cheat use, the period immediately following a client update is the worst time to test an unverified build on an account or license you intend to keep.
