Behaviour Interactive rolled out bugfix patch 9.6.2 for Dead by Daylight. This isn’t a content update — no new survivors or killers — but it carries a couple of important fixes that have been chipping at the player experience over recent weeks.
Amanda’s Letter is back
The headline of the patch is re-enabling The Pig’s Amanda’s Letter add-on (Amanda Young). The add-on was disabled in the previous hotfix because of a discovered bug: under specific activation conditions, it let The Pig see survivors through walls in an unintended way (an aura-reveal exploit).
Behaviour fixed the mechanic and brought the add-on back into the game. Amanda’s Letter now works as designed: a small temporary aura-reveal through traps for The Pig.
2v8 fixes
2v8 — the experimental mode with two killers against eight survivors — continues to receive polish:
- Fixed a bug where the Play buttons stayed greyed out in the Overview tab after viewing Quests. Previously players had to re-enter the menu to fix it.
A small thing, but 2v8 is one of DbD’s most popular alternative modes, and UX bugs like this push players away.
Audio fixes
Sound in DbD is core gameplay (killer footsteps when slugged, skillcheck pings, generator audio). The patch fixes:
- The Krasue now properly plays SFX when hooking a survivor in both Body and Head forms. Without sound, the hook visually worked but the action info was lost for survivors at distance.
- The Nightmare — fixed SFX on Dream Snare activation. Freddy previously sneaked up “silently,” which broke timing for experienced survivor dodges.
Additionally — small SFX touches on several perks and add-ons, not listed individually.
What this means for players
Bugfix patches of this size typically don’t break software. Behaviour doesn’t touch EAC systems for minor patches. This is a good window to play DbD without worrying about “maintenance” downtime.
If you use software for Dead by Daylight, updates keep working as usual. That said, the usual practice still applies: launch an HWID spoofer before your session, and don’t jump into a public match immediately after installing a patch — give it 30–60 minutes.
Bottom line
9.6.2 is a small but important fix patch. The main event — Amanda’s Letter returning for The Pig, which mains will enjoy. The rest is QoL polish. Behaviour keeps steadily polishing the game between bigger content updates.
