Hunt: Showdown 2.9 downtime and 91.2GB update

Hunt: Showdown servers go offline on September 8 for Update 2.9 and Blood Testament, with software compatibility still unconfirmed.

Hunt: Showdown’s live servers will go offline at 09:00 CEST on September 8 as Update 2.9 and the Blood Testament event are deployed. The maintenance window is estimated at four hours, but the more immediate hurdle for many players will be the 91.2GB download. Full patch notes will not be available until the update goes live.

Two separate delays to plan around

The announced server maintenance and the client download are different bottlenecks. Even if the live service returns on schedule, players will still need to download, unpack, and verify a substantial amount of data before joining a match.

The confirmed launch details are limited to:

  • maintenance beginning at 09:00 CEST on September 8;
  • an estimated downtime of approximately four hours;
  • a 91.2GB client update;
  • the release of Update 2.9 alongside Blood Testament.

Anyone aiming to play near launch should make room on the installation drive and allow time for local processing as well as the download itself. The four-hour estimate is a maintenance target rather than a guaranteed reopening time.

Patch size does not reveal what changed

There is no change list in the advance notice. Because the patch notes are being held until deployment, the announcement provides no basis for claiming that particular weapons, systems, or anti-cheat components have been altered.

A 91.2GB package sounds extensive, but download size alone is a poor guide to the depth of a code update. Event assets and repacked archives can account for a large transfer without corresponding changes to every client system. Conversely, a relatively small executable change may still be enough to invalidate signatures or offsets used by third-party tools.

The sensible point to reassess the update is after the notes are published and the live build can be tested. Until then, specific claims about balance changes or new detection methods would be speculation.

What this means for players using software

Treat 2.9 as a new client build rather than assuming an existing setup will carry over. Tools that depend on memory offsets, signatures, rendering hooks, or mapped game entities may require an update. A menu opening successfully is not proof that ESP data, targeting logic, or other functions are reading the new client correctly.

Blood Testament may also introduce entities that existing ESP filters do not recognize or classify properly. That is a general compatibility concern for event updates, not a confirmed problem with this particular release. Testing against the live 2.9 client is still required.

Before starting a session, consult the software update status page and verify that the build you use has been checked after the game update. The Hunt: Showdown software catalog is useful for reviewing available options, but a listing should not be interpreted as automatic confirmation of day-one compatibility.

There is no evidence in this notice that players need a different HWID spoofer, nor does it confirm an anti-cheat update. Waiting an arbitrary 24 hours is also less useful than waiting for an explicit compatibility status. Do not inject or launch an older build merely because the game servers have returned.
