Squad 10.5.4 Targets Server Crashes and Stuck Queues

Squad hotfix 10.5.4 closes vulnerabilities tied to server crashes and endless join queues, with no announced balance or anti-cheat changes.

Squad received hotfix 10.5.4 on September 3 to address deliberate disruption of multiplayer servers. The update closes several vulnerabilities associated with crashes and queues that never finish. This is a narrowly focused stability and security patch rather than a content or balance release.

A server-focused update

There are no weapon adjustments, vehicle changes, map revisions, or other gameplay items in the announcement. Instead, 10.5.4 targets methods that were reportedly being used to interfere with live servers.

The fixed issues could be exploited to:

  • interrupt normal server operation;
  • force a server to crash;
  • leave joining players trapped in an endless queue.

No technical details were provided, which is reasonable for vulnerabilities that had already been abused. The notes also do not claim that every future crash or stalled connection has been eliminated. Hosting trouble, high load, and local network problems can still produce similar symptoms.

Queue problems should be diagnosed differently

A frozen queue can look like a broken game client, especially when other players are connecting normally. Following this hotfix, repeatedly changing local settings or restarting third-party tools should not be the first response.

Testing another community server is a more useful initial check. If one server continues to crash or keeps players waiting indefinitely, its administrators are the appropriate contact. The Squad team says it will continue monitoring the situation with hosting companies and community partners, so reports from server operators remain relevant after the patch.

That monitoring matters because closing known attack paths does not guarantee that malicious disruption will stop permanently. It means the identified vulnerabilities have been addressed, not that every infrastructure incident now has the same cause.

What the notes do not confirm

The announcement contains no mention of an anti-cheat revision or a new enforcement system. It therefore gives players no factual reason to assume that 10.5.4 introduced different detection rules. It also does not say whether the client executable changed, so describing the update as server-focused should not be mistaken for proof that every client-side file remained untouched.

For external tools, that distinction is important. A small hotfix can require compatibility work if a fresh client build changes structures or offsets, even when the visible purpose of the release is server stability. The patch notes alone cannot confirm whether that happened here.

What this means for players using software

There is no patch-specific reason to replace your setup or add an HWID spoofer. A spoofer does not solve a server crash or bypass a queue that is stuck because the host is being disrupted. The source also announces no ban wave or hardware-identification change.

Update Squad first, then review the software update statuses before launching an existing build. If compatibility is still pending, waiting for verification is more sensible than testing an older tool against an updated client. Available options can be found in the Squad software catalog, but a catalog listing should not be treated as a substitute for the current status of a particular build.

If the only issue after 10.5.4 is an endless queue, try another server and contact the affected server’s staff. Do not assume that changing ESP or aim settings will fix an infrastructure problem.
