💥 PC Gamer covered an investigation by streamer TheBurntPeanut, whose videos on Arc Raiders dupe exploits racked up over 130,000 views — and showed the problem runs far deeper than the community assumed. The game’s loot chase is effectively broken: items get duplicated, the economy is inflated, and a chunk of the server “rich” never earned their loot honestly.
What the streamer showed
- Dupes of up to 22 copies at once. The exploit let players multiply any item — from consumables to top-tier weapons — into as many as 22 copies per operation.
- Mountains of duped Bobcats. Cheaters literally dumped piles of identical weapons on the ground — with “infinite” loot there’s nothing to lose, so these players dive into every firefight without a second thought.
- Real-money trading. In-game weapons and gear are bought and sold in Facebook and Discord groups — a classic RMT scheme that grew straight out of the dupes.
Embark’s response
Embark Studios admitted the exploits stemmed from a design flaw, not a client hack. The studio has moved to enforcement: major exploiters are getting currency removed and suspensions issued, and a recent statement stresses that “serious infractions now carry stricter consequences.” That said, the history of similar games suggests that once one hole is patched, the community finds the next.
Forced wipes suddenly don’t look so bad
The unexpected takeaway of the debate: forced wipes — traditionally hated by the extraction-shooter community — start to look like a health measure against a dupe-driven economy. When thousands of “free” guns flood the market, the only honest reset is resetting everyone.
What it means for players running software
- Embark is in active cleanup mode. The penalty wave isn’t just hitting dupers: amid the scandal the studio is tightening its entire anti-cheat pipeline, so be extra careful with detectable features.
- RMT trading is its own risk. Buying duped loot for real money triggers the same penalties as duping itself: currency removal, suspension, ban.
- Play it safe. Current software statuses are in our Arc Raiders section, feature picks in the Arc Raiders cheats guide, and hardware protection in the HWID spoofer guide.
Facts are based on PC Gamer’s report and Embark’s public statements. The studio doesn’t disclose the exact penalty list and may tighten measures without notice.
