Palworld’s v1.0.3 update is a housekeeping patch: a batch of balance cuts on one side, a long repair list on the other. The headline for anyone who cares about the game’s economy is the item duplication bug that finally got closed, alongside a Katress trick that let riders pull the wrong sphere type when swapping spheres.
Progression got cheaper
Most of the balance work pushes gates earlier and trims costs:
- Several Jetragon technologies now unlock at level 70 instead of 79, and the Pal Gear needed to ride it costs fewer materials.
- The Aquatic Construction Kit dropped from level 66 to level 23, with its Ancient Technology Point cost falling from 4 to 1.
- World Tree Holy Water lasts longer, weighs 0.1 instead of 1, and now drops from World Tree expeditions, World Tree fishing and the Large Fishing Pond, with higher yields from Pals in that region and from Teafant Spring.
- Trees give double Fiber, and the Ancient Armor line had its crafting work adjusted.
Base building saw the Crude Oil Extractor, its high-pressure variant and the Large Power Generator all get cheaper, with faster oil output on both extractors. The base mission asking for a Crude Oil Extractor now also accepts the high-pressure version. Server admins get a new option, bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp, which turns off the suppression of enemy camp spawns close to player bases.
The repair list
Multiplayer took the bulk of the attention. Dedicated servers no longer trigger Fast Travel unintentionally during Tower Boss fights, and Pals should stop vibrating on client screens. Co-op sessions had broken lighting after cutscenes and stutter during the World Tree entry scene fixed.
Elsewhere: summoned Pals that stopped fighting or refused to help with base work, Partner Skill effects failing to update visually for Orserk and others, Alpha Surfent not producing Leather at a Ranch, and a mismatch between Panthalus’s attack visuals and its real damage range. A hard progression block in Sunreach — removing the barrier before accepting the main mission — is gone, and some raid boss encounters that stalled mid-fight now run properly. Reward settings for the normal Moon Lord and Ultra Raid Boss fights were corrected, and stair and slanted roof placement detection was brought in line with the actual shapes.
What this means for players using software
Start with the obvious: a new client build means a new binary layout. Trainers, memory editors and tables tuned against v1.0.2 will most likely fail to resolve their addresses on v1.0.3, and a stale injector can take the process down instead of just failing quietly. Check the software update statuses before your first session rather than after a crash.
The duplication fix deserves a second look. Patches that close item dupes tend to arrive with tighter server-side inventory validation, and that shifts the risk profile for anyone spawning items or editing stack counts on a dedicated server. Solo worlds and private co-op remain effectively unpoliced — there is no anticheat here, just an admin reading logs — but a shared server after a dupe patch is exactly where an inflated inventory stands out.
Third, some of the balance changes make aggressive tooling pointless. If you were using software mainly to shortcut Fiber, crude oil or late-tech gating, recheck the new numbers first: the Aquatic Construction Kit costs a fraction of what it did, oil flows faster, and tree Fiber doubled. Toning multipliers down to something plausible is often smarter than keeping settings that now look absurd next to vanilla rates.
A sane routine: hold off a day or two while builds are recompiled, confirm the current state on the Palworld page, and keep older versions off any server you share with other players until then.
