Grinding Gear Games has announced competitive Path of Exile 2 races at ExileCon 2026 in November. The finals will run live on the main stage, preceded by a series of four qualifier events where the best racers compete for a spot in the finale. Details for the Path of Exile 1 qualifiers will be announced later, the studio says.
The competition format
PoE races are a classic speedrun format where it’s not about your dream build but about leveling speed and early-league efficiency:
- ExileCon main stage, November 2026 — the culmination for PoE 2.
- Four qualifier events before the finale — a series that decides the finalist roster.
- The best racers advance; exact rules and schedule are still to come from GGG.
For GGG, races are a traditional way to showcase the game’s core: character building, the progression curve, and the craft of fast farming in front of a crowd.
Why it matters
Path of Exile 2 is a deep ARPG, and competitive races highlight its strength: replayability and systems depth. An ExileCon tournament is both a showcase for newcomers and a celebration for veterans — plus a concurrents spike around related league launches.
What this means for cheat users
ARPG races are a high-scrutiny integrity zone, and the rules here are their own:
- Competitive runs are no place for software. Any automation in a tournament is instant disqualification and a reputation hit; streams record every action.
- Normal play carries a different risk. PoE is mostly PvE, but GGG comes down hard on botting and farm automation: accounts and stashes get banned.
- Don’t force an “inhuman” pace. Abnormal clear speed and currency farming is a classic trigger for manual review.
