NetEase has posted the Marvel Rivals version 20260807 balance notes on Steam, dated August 5. Nothing here reshapes the roster, but the patch does pull on several load-bearing parts of the current meta: Peni Parker loses her instant lockdown, Venom gives back a slice of his sustain, and a long list of Team-Up bonuses gets re-tuned. And since balance passes arrive attached to a client build, anyone playing with third-party software has a second reason to read them.
The Peni Parker rework is the headline
Cyber-Web Snare no longer Immobilizes on impact. Instead it applies a Web-Tracer stack plus a 30% Slow for one second; the tracer sticks for five seconds, and only a second snare on an already-tagged target locks them down, for 0.7 seconds. The ability also moves to a charge system with two charges maximum, and the Bonus Health Peni pulls from her Cyber-Webs drops from 200 to 150.
The developers were unusually blunt about why: the Immobilize was landing too often and gave opponents almost nothing to play against. The trade is a higher cost on the control itself and more freedom on her secondary fire.
Venom is the other Vanguard heading downwards. Symbiotic Resilience now converts 110% of lost health into Bonus Health instead of 120%, and Venom Swing sits on a 10-second cooldown rather than eight.
Who gains
- Devil Dinosaur hits harder with Frenzied Feast (first four attacks from 5% to 8% max-health damage, the fifth from 10% to 12%) and his Jeff the Land Shark pairing runs a second longer with stronger healing.
- Doctor Strange gets 18 damage per Dagger of Denak and 12 charges, while the Hulk Team-Up cuts Gamma Maelstrom’s cooldown to six seconds.
- Rogue blocks 60% in Defensive Stance and carries a 275-capacity Regenerative Shield.
- Cyclops refunds more Ricochet Force cooldown per Optic Blast hit and gains a bigger fire-rate boost alongside Gambit.
- Moon Knight keeps more damage on bounces, with Crescent Dart and Moon Blade decay dropping from 30% to 20% per ricochet.
- Magneto adds a small Launch Up to Metallic Chaos projectiles when paired with Scarlet Witch.
On the losing side of the Duelist ledger: Black Panther’s Storm Team-Up does less area damage on a longer cooldown, Elsa Bloodstone’s Smoky Snare is flimsier and holds targets for less time with Devil Dinosaur, and Hela’s Undead Monstro hits for 10 instead of 15 with the Namor pairing.
What this means for players using software
Start with the boring part: a balance pass means a new build, and a new build means shifted offsets. ESP, ability overlays and aim assistance are all reading memory layouts that just moved, so a loader that worked yesterday is either dead or, worse, half-working and unpredictable mid-match. Wait for your provider to confirm the version, not to promise it. Our software update statuses page tracks what is live and what is on hold.
Second, treat the first day or two as the uncertain window. Anticheat modules frequently ride along with balance builds without ever appearing in the changelog, and community experience suggests that the period right after an update is the hardest one to read from the outside — nobody can verify what changed under the hood. If the account matters to you, play it clean for a session or two and do your testing on a throwaway profile behind an HWID spoofer, so a hardware flag never reaches the main login.
Third, revisit your configuration rather than assuming it transfers. Charge-based Cyber-Web Snare and the Web-Tracer mechanic change how threatening Peni actually is at a given moment; a slower-swinging Venom shifts when he commits and disengages; Moon Knight’s flatter bounce decay makes ricochet damage relevant in angles that used to be safe. Target priority, prediction and trigger timings tuned to the old numbers will fire at the wrong moments. Builds kept current for the live patch sit on our Marvel Rivals page.
