Today, May 19, 2026, Playground Games — with assistance from Turn 10 Studios — officially shipped Forza Horizon 6 under Xbox Game Studios. The sixth entry in the beloved open-world racing series is built on the ForzaTech engine and moves the festival to Japan, the biggest and most detailed map in Horizon history. Premium Edition owners already had access on May 15 (four-day early access), and during those four days the game set a franchise concurrent-player record on Steam — 172,093 players.
Critics are unanimous: 92/100 on Metacritic for the Xbox Series X|S version, 89/100 for PC, and a 100% recommend rate on OpenCritic.
The map: Japan as a living character
The headline feature is a fully realized Tokyo that’s five times the size of FH5’s Guanajuato. It’s the densest and most complex urban section the series has ever built. Recognizable landmarks include:
- Shibuya Crossing — the iconic scramble crossing.
- Ginko Avenue and Tokyo Tower, visible from dozens of vantage points.
- Mountain passes (touge) purpose-built for night drift battles in the spirit of classic JDM culture.
- Rural Japan with rice fields, Shinto shrines and the famous Hakone hairpins.
Seasons rotate weekly — from cherry blossom in spring to meter-deep snow on Hokkaido in winter. The map now has 8 garage fast-travel points and a fully customizable player property — “The Estate” on a mountainside, where you can arrange your collection, host Car Meets and tweak the interior.
What’s new in the gameplay
550+ cars at launch, all rebuilt around an overhauled customization system. The notable additions:
- R Class — a dedicated category for track-focused, heavy-aero machinery.
- Car Meets — gatherings inspired by real Japanese meetup culture; share your build, run impromptu drag races.
- Horizon Rush — a new event type built around obstacle courses.
- Touge Battles — night duels on mountain serpentines, a direct nod to Initial D.
- Wristband progression — the progression system returning from the very first Forza Horizon back in 2012.
The fan-favorite Eliminator battle royale also returns — it was one of FH5’s most-played modes.
The cover cars are the 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype (its video-game debut) and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. The pre-order bonus is an exclusive Ferrari J50 with a pre-installed tune.
Platforms, pricing and Game Pass
The game is out on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Microsoft Store + Steam). There is no Xbox One version. The PS5 release is scheduled for later in 2026, exact date TBD. Xbox Play Anywhere is supported — one digital copy works across Xbox and PC.

What this means for our cheat-software audience

If you’re just planning to play through the campaign, climb the Eliminator ladder or grind a co-op garage with friends — you don’t need any external tools right now. Forza Horizon 6 is a “vibe” game, not a tryhard meta sim.
