Once Human Season 4 'Gravity Abyss': Rewritten Physics and a Behemoth From the Deep

Starry Studio teased the fourth Visional Wheel season of Once Human — Gravity Abyss. Weightlessness, a new zone and a colossal boss replace Aberrant Progeny. Launch follows the May 23 dev blog by two to three weeks.

On May 23, 2026 Starry Studio published the Steam dev blog for the fourth Visional Wheel season of Once HumanGravity Abyss. Following the now-established cadence, Visional Wheel rotation servers close out one narrative arc and open the next — this time Aberrant Progeny is shutting down, and what replaces it is a scenario in which the laws of gravity on Nalcott get rewritten on the fly.

What the Season Looks Like

The team is anchoring around three pitches:

  • Shifting gravity. Scenario zones will modulate the strength and direction of gravity — from full weightlessness to sudden overloads. This is not a cosmetic effect; it is a combat and logistics mechanic. How you build a base, how you haul loot, how you strafe in firefights — all of it changes.
  • A behemoth from the abyss. The scenario introduces a new PvE anchor described as a “behemoth,” which reads like a major raid-style target. There are no phase details yet, but Starry is signaling up front that you’ll want to prep this as a team.
  • Branching narrative. Visional Wheel is always a multi-scenario season. Players pick a track: PvE exploration, PvP confrontation, or builder-PvE flow. Gravity Abyss layers weightlessness as a global modifier on top of all of them.

When Does It Launch

The blog doesn’t pin a date. Starry historically publishes a dev blog 2–3 weeks before a season’s launch, which puts Gravity Abyss in the first half of June 2026. Season rotation itself works the usual way: characters reset, your local storage resets, Eternaland progression persists.

What This Means for Players

A few practical takeaways:

  • Finish out Aberrant Progeny. All of the current season’s challenges, rewards and cosmetics archive at rotation. If you have anything mid-track, the next week or two is your window.
  • Move key resources into Eternaland. Global storage survives the rotation; local containers do not.
  • Expect different gun feel. Weightlessness breaks the recoil curves you’ve built muscle memory around. Re-zero your gear after launch.

For Players Using Software

Visional Wheel rotations in Once Human have historically shipped alongside quiet client-side anti-cheat updates. Starry doesn’t talk about that publicly, but the pattern from past seasons is that scenario rotation breaks existing builds for 24–72 hours while vendors recompile. Our Once Human catalog and tool roundup track provider status synchronously with each rotation. Don’t load in with active software during the first 24 hours of Gravity Abyss; wait for your provider’s green-light status.

Bottom Line

Gravity Abyss is Starry’s attempt to move past the “new season = new items” rhythm into “new season = different physics.” If the gravity mechanic lands, Once Human gets a real differentiator versus the rest of the open-world survival shelf. If it doesn’t, it’s one more cosmetic season with a tough boss. We’ll know in a couple of weeks.
