Hunt: Showdown received hotfix 2.9.0.3 on September 18 following player reports about problems that appeared with update 2.9. The build addresses unexpected sensitivity behavior, restores several pieces of content, and fixes crashes in the menu and Shooting Range. Crytek advises everyone to restart the game client before playing.
Stability and content fixes
Two crash scenarios are covered by this hotfix. One could occur while loading back into the menu, while the other affected the Shooting Range. The range also had a cosmetic issue: after a player respawned, the Blood Garnet charm could disappear from the weapon. Its display has now been corrected.
Several other fixes restore functions that were not behaving as intended:
- Hex Breaker, Corvid: Bile, and Corvid: Brood are available for hiring and purchasing again;
- Whispersmith now applies when equipping or unequipping the Burgess and its variants;
- Saddle Bags once again provide Consumables;
- Fidget Blade uses its intended animation instead of the default inspection sequence.
These are primarily reliability and availability corrections rather than a weapon balance pass. The patch notes do not announce changes to damage, ammunition, or hunter progression.
Sensitivity settings may feel different now
The input fixes deserve more attention than the cosmetic items. Update 2.9 could cause the horizontal hip-fire sensitivity boost to change after leaving ADS. Vertical sensitivity could also become much higher than expected. Hotfix 2.9.0.3 resolves both behaviors.
Players who compensated by lowering sensitivity or changing separate aim profiles should not assume those temporary values still produce the same result. Test hip fire, vertical movement, and the transition out of ADS before adjusting anything again. Restoring an old profile without testing could effectively compensate for a problem that is no longer present.
The Blood Moon audio mix has also been adjusted. The announcement does not identify individual sound categories or provide values, so it would be premature to claim that footsteps, gunshots, or other specific cues now travel differently.
Restart before entering a match
Because the hotfix was deployed to the client, leaving Hunt: Showdown open may prevent it from moving cleanly to the latest build. Close the game completely and launch it again. This also gives players a clear baseline when diagnosing whether an issue comes from the game update, local settings, or third-party software.
What this means for players using software
There is no anti-cheat update mentioned in the 2.9.0.3 announcement. On the available information, there is no reason to change an HWID spoofer or treat every compatibility problem as evidence of a new detection method.
The client build did change, however. Memory-dependent ESP, aim tools, and similar software may require validation even when the visible patch is small, since internal data locations can shift independently of the public feature list. Restart the game, then check the software update status before loading an existing build. If compatibility is still being tested, waiting for confirmation is safer than discovering a mismatch during a live match.
Input-related configurations need a separate check. Tools or profiles that account for vertical sensitivity and ADS transitions may now overcompensate because the underlying game bugs were fixed. Verify normal sensitivity behavior first, then tune software settings. The Hunt: Showdown software catalog lists the available options, but compatibility should always be judged against the currently installed client build.
