Apex Legends: Power Trip event and fresh Wildcard fixes

Apex Legends kicked off the Power Trip event with mutating round modifiers in Wildcard and bio-enhanced cosmetics. A same-day bugfix also landed: Vantage pings, Seer ultimate, Axle's grenade and Wildcard crafting. A breakdown and what software users should note.

Respawn have launched the limited-time Power Trip event in Apex Legends — Legends are “pushing beyond their limits.” The headline feature is mutating round modifiers in the Wildcard mode, plus a line of bio-enhanced cosmetics. A separate bugfix patch dropped the same day.

What Power Trip is

The event revolves around Wildcard: you play 5 rounds, some of them normal and some that mutate with a random modifier affecting all Legends at once. One confirmed modifier:

  • Featherweight — Legends jump higher, get a double jump, and can fast-fall while airborne.

In other words, the usual movement physics break on purpose in certain rounds, and you have to re-read fights from scratch. Participation rewards the event’s bio-enhanced cosmetics and the usual event loot.

Same-day bugfix (May 28)

In a separate update Respawn fixed several long-standing annoyances:

  • Vantage pings are visible to teammates again, as intended.
  • Seer’s Ultimate now correctly displays enemy footsteps.
  • Axle’s Kickstart explosion now clears smoke and gas in its AoE (like other explosions).
  • The Turbocharger hop-up UI now shows accurate information.
  • Fixed crafting at the Replicator in Wildcard.

Small stuff, but exactly the kind of thing that swings fights — especially the Seer and Axle smoke fixes.

What it means for players using software

Apex still runs on Easy Anti-Cheat plus Respawn’s server-side anti-cheat, and moderation activity clearly ramps up during events: more players online means more reports and tighter checks. A few practical notes:

  • Wildcard with modifiers is a risky mode for aggressive aim setups: non-standard physics (Featherweight, for one) produces abnormal trajectories, and snappy “corrections” on double jumps stand out far more than usual.
  • The bugfix changes ability behavior (Seer, Axle) — if your build relies on reading those effects, check for an update from your provider.
  • During the event, keep settings conservative and don’t farm stats in Wildcard on public builds.

You can find trusted options and read up on the current anti-cheat status in the Apex Legends section — top providers ship updates for major patches quickly.

Bottom line

Power Trip is an optional but fun event: the Wildcard modifiers shake up the routine nicely, and the accompanying bugfix closed several irritating bugs at once. A good reason to log in — just keep the risk down in the first few days.
