DayZ 1.30 enters Experimental with motorbikes

DayZ 1.30 brings motorbikes, refreshed inventory icons, and animation changes to Experimental, with several compatibility points for third-party software users.

DayZ 1.30 entered the Steam Experimental branch on September 16, beginning the public testing phase for part of Badlands. The build introduces two motorbikes, a two-wheel physics model, refreshed inventory artwork, and revised animations. It does not contain every asset planned for the expansion, so this should not be treated as the complete Badlands release.

Animation changes may have the widest compatibility impact

Bohemia Interactive has updated the systems used for character animation and warned that animation-related mods may encounter problems. While that notice is aimed at mod creators, it is also the clearest reason to avoid assuming that tools built for the regular client will behave identically on 1.30 Experimental.

The infected received more context-sensitive attacks as part of the work. Instead of relying on a consistently downward strike, they can select upward, centered, or downward animations according to the target’s head position. The result should better match players who are standing, crouching, or prone, including encounters on stairs and slopes.

None of this confirms that skeleton layouts, bone references, or other client data have changed. It does mean that software using poses or animation states needs validation rather than a blind launch on the new executable.

Motorbikes become the focus of public testing

Experimental players can try a moped and an enduro. The moped has three fixed colors—blue, red, and yellow—while the enduro offers four base finishes plus interchangeable colored panels. Both use a newly built two-wheel simulation that supports leaning — behavior DayZ vehicles did not previously require.

Crashes also introduce ragdoll behavior. The rider loses consciousness and therefore does not watch the fall from their own perspective, but other connected clients are expected to see the character in the same final position.

Dedicated Many Motorbikes servers will provide a concentrated environment for testing vehicle behavior and performance. This follows the approach previously used for car-heavy test servers. For software users, the new vehicle classes are relevant because older entity filters or overlays may not categorize them correctly until their developers add support.

More than 150 inventory icons have been refreshed

The inventory update is less dramatic mechanically but visible throughout the interface. More than 150 item icons were revised to use a consistent viewing angle, outline weight, and level of contrast against slot backgrounds. The goal is to make small items easier to identify while removing mismatched visual styles accumulated over the game’s long development.

An icon replacement alone is not evidence of altered offsets or a deeper client restructuring. In this case, however, it ships alongside vehicle physics and animation work, so the entire build still warrants a fresh compatibility check.

What this means for players using software

Version 1.30 is currently an Experimental build. If you remain on the standard DayZ branch, this announcement is not by itself a reason to replace a working setup. Conversely, software marked only for the regular client should not be assumed to support Experimental, even if the game starts successfully.

Check the software update status page before testing the new branch. Pay particular attention to features that read vehicle entities, character poses, skeleton data, or animation states. A tool may launch while still failing to display motorbikes, misclassifying entities, or producing unreliable visual information.

The announcement does not mention an anti-cheat update. There is therefore no factual basis here for claiming a new detection wave or recommending a different HWID spoofer solely because 1.30 reached Experimental. Use the DayZ catalog for current-version builds as a compatibility starting point, and wait for explicit Experimental support rather than treating stable-branch support as interchangeable.
