R6 Siege Y11S2.1: Dokkaebi nerf and four attacker buffs

Ubisoft shipped the Y11S2.1 patch for Rainbow Six Siege: Dokkaebi gets a cooldown and four attackers get buffs. We break down the balance changes and what players running software should note after the client update.

Ubisoft has rolled out the mid-season Y11S2.1 patch for Rainbow Six Siege. The headline balance change is a cooldown for Dokkaebi, along with a set of measured attacker buffs and fixes for some long-standing exploits.

Dokkaebi nerf

The season’s main change: there’s now a strict 7-second static cooldown between global Logic Bomb (Jegeo Payload) activations. Previously Dokkaebi could chain calls back to back and keep constant pressure on the defending side with no breather. The cooldown carves out clear windows — defenders can reposition between activations — and rewards timing the call to line up with a push rather than mashing it on cooldown.

Four attacker buffs

  • Ash — breaching round explosion radius up from 2.0 to 2.2 m: less precision needed to destroy gadgets through walls.
  • IQ — Electronics Detector range expanded from 20 to 22 m: easier to locate gadgets and cloaked defenders.
  • Thatcher — EMP grenade radius widened from 1.75 to 1.85 m: simpler to clear several stacked gadgets in one throw.
  • Finka — Adrenal Surge cooldown reduced from 20 to 18 seconds: more healing activations in extended fights.

Thorn nerf and fixes

Thorn’s post-hit limping after a Razorbloom proc is cut from 15 to 10 seconds, giving surviving attackers a better chance to rejoin combat. Notable bug fixes: the prone-to-shoot animation-cancel exploit is removed, Solis’s passive scan bug is fixed, the XK23 horizontal grip infinite loading screen is resolved, and push-to-talk voice chat is restored.

What it means for players running software

R6 Siege is protected by BattlEye, and a balance patch on its own doesn’t touch it — but balance changes almost always ship with a client update. Practical rules:

  • Don’t rush after the update. Let the developer confirm compatibility with the new build and check the status on the product card.
  • The balance shifted: gadget and drone ESP is more valuable now — the Dokkaebi nerf rewards an information-first defense.
  • In ranked, obvious play draws reports fastest — restraint beats flashy settings.

Bottom line

Y11S2.1 is fine-tuning, not a revolution: Dokkaebi becomes more “team-oriented,” attackers get small conveniences, and several old exploits are finally closed. For players running software the routine is the same — pause after the update and check statuses before your first match.
