THE FINALS Update 10.9.0 — what's new and software risks

Embark shipped THE FINALS Update 10.9.0: weapon tweaks, store content and background improvements. We break down the meta shift and why EAC players shouldn't load a cheat on day one.

Embark Studios has rolled out THE FINALS Update 10.9.0 — live on May 28, 2026. It’s the next step in the current season, landing a week after Store Update 10.8.0 and continuing the run of targeted tweaks. THE FINALS remains one of the most technical shooters built around destructible environments, and each iteration nudges weapon and gadget balance.

What an update this size usually contains

10.9.0 isn’t a major seasonal release — it’s an interim update. Going by Embark’s cadence, it likely includes:

  • Weapon and gadget tweaks — damage, spread and reload adjustments. After these, “meta loadouts” dip for a couple of days.
  • Store content — new skins, bundles and shop rotation (a natural follow-up to Store Update 10.8.0).
  • Bug fixes and stability — destruction, object physics, server tickrate.
  • Quality of life — UI, audio, minor mode tweaks.

THE FINALS anti-cheat — why day one is risky

THE FINALS runs on Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) — a kernel-level anti-cheat that scans drivers, processes and memory in ring 0. That’s more serious than user-mode VAC: EAC sees more and actively bans by HWID.

Any client update means new binaries and potentially new offsets. Even when the patch notes say nothing about anti-cheat, external and internal software has to be rebuilt for the new version. Launching an old build after a patch is a common cause of both crashes and detections.

What it means for players running THE FINALS software

  • Don’t load a cheat in the first 24 hours. Give the developer time to update offsets for 10.9.0. A good provider pauses its software until it’s verified against EAC.
  • A HWID spoofer is mandatory. EAC bans hardware aggressively, and without HWID spoofing a new account follows the old one straight to a ban. Spoofer catalog.
  • Don’t get caught in the rubble. Killcams and replays are especially vivid in THE FINALS: 100%-accuracy aimbot through collapsing walls means reports and manual review. Lower your aim FOV and smoothing.
  • Wait for an “updated” status. A confirmed status against the specific client version matters more than “it worked yesterday.”

What to watch next

Interim updates like 10.9.0 ship between major seasonal releases, so the next iteration is a matter of weeks. If you’re playing ranked, sitting out the first day after a patch beats risking your account on an unsynced build.
