Dark and Darker Hotfix #117: Firedeep treasure rooms and economy rebalance

Ironmace shipped Hotfix #117 for Dark and Darker: new treasure rooms and mining ores on the Firedeep floors, rare items are worth more, and AP gains for kills and floor descents were retuned. What it means for players and software users.

Ironmace keeps polishing its recent content drops: on June 11, Early Access Hotfix #117 landed in Dark and Darker. Officially it’s “polish and balance,” but there is enough here to reshape familiar routes — especially if you farm the new Firedeep floors.

Firedeep: new treasure rooms and ores

The headline change is an expansion of Firedeep, the recently added fiery dungeon levels:

  • New treasure rooms — extra vaults that make it worth deviating from your usual sprint to the exit.
  • New mining ores — mining on Firedeep got more variety, which directly boosts the floor’s value for merchants and crafting.

If Firedeep used to be a “run through and descend” zone, it is now a proper farming destination: treasure rooms plus ore give you a reason to linger.

Economy: rare items are worth more

Ironmace made “numerous adjustments to the economy,” shifting value toward rare items. In practice that means:

  • loot below rare grade goes to the vendor even more often instead of your stash;
  • one good run with a couple of rares now pays for several failed ones;
  • the cost of dying with loot in your inventory just went up.

Game rules: AP for kills and descents

The Adventure Points tuning also changed: the amount of AP earned for kills and for going down a floor was adjusted. That directly affects how players climb the ladder — aggressive play and pushing deeper are again being weighed against passive “ratting” near the exits.

What it means for players running software

For anyone raiding with private software for Dark and Darker, the hotfix shifts feature priorities:

  • Loot ESP got more valuable. With rare items worth more, loot highlighting converts straight into gold, not just saved time. We break down which products offer it in our Dark and Darker cheats guide.
  • The standard post-patch rule applies: don’t queue into raids in the first hours after a hotfix — wait until software developers confirm compatibility with the fresh build; statuses are updated on product pages.
  • The new Firedeep treasure rooms are an obvious magnet for everyone, including aggressive parties. Player position info (ESP) at those hotspots decides more fights than raw aim.
