Bellring Games has laid out how it punishes unfair play in Mistfall Hunter, and it published partial ban lists alongside the rules. One line matters more than the rest for anyone running third-party software: confirmed cheating results in a permanent ban on both the account and the device. The second half of the policy covers what the studio calls Illegal Teaming — a term the developers had to redefine publicly after a botched translation in several language versions of the post.
The penalty tiers
- Cheating. Zero tolerance, stated outright. A permanent account ban plus a device ban.
- Illegal Teaming. A matchmaking suspension on the first offence, with escalating penalties for repeat cases that can end in a permanent ban.
- How cases are built. The studio names backend data analysis, the in-game report tool and community reports. In other words, automated statistical flagging plus human review of player complaints.
Two lists of masked account names came with the announcement. Both are explicitly labelled as partial, so their relative length says nothing about the real split between the two offence types — it is a sample, not a full report.
The teaming definition, corrected
After player pushback, Bellring admitted that some localisations broadened the wording into something like “cooperating with others” and dropped the critical qualifier. The corrected definition covers multiple players deliberately queueing into the same match in order to work together against everyone else or otherwise ruin the lobby. Only cases that meet that bar are supposed to be actioned.
The studio also went out of its way to say it will not lecture anyone on how to play an extraction game, since messy split-second decisions and varied playstyles are the point. Fair PvP, though, is framed as the top priority, with detection and penalty systems being tuned across every test phase of the project.
What this means for players using software
The device half of the penalty is the operative detail. Bellring does not explain how that block is implemented, but the practical reading is clear enough: a fresh account may not reset anything if enforcement is not tied to the profile alone. And keeping that account fully separate from your main library stops being a nice precaution and becomes the baseline.
Backend data analysis is the second thing worth reading carefully. It most likely points at behavioural statistics rather than pure memory signatures — accuracy curves, reaction windows, tracking smoothness, repeating patterns. Detection of that kind usually does not react on the spot; in practice bans from it tend to arrive in batches, which published lists indirectly suggest. The takeaway comes from experience rather than the announcement itself: an aggressive aimbot profile is riskier than any visual feature, while looser smoothing and a tighter FOV generally draw fewer questions.
Third, reports genuinely feed the pipeline here. If moderators review complaints by hand, anything that reads as “he tracked me through a wall” becomes a ticket. Treat ESP as information for positioning and rotation, not as permission to face a target you had no in-fiction reason to see.
On timing: enforcement waves usually arrive close to client updates and detection tweaks, so the first day after any patch is the worst possible time to queue.
