Western Sahara received its 1.1.9 update for Arma 3 on September 3, with a download of roughly 3.2 GB. The changelog is centered on DLC assets, vehicle functionality, geometry, and audio rather than a broad revision of the base game. Nothing in the announcement identifies an anti-cheat update or a change to the game executable.
The compatibility signal is limited
The most relevant technical entry is the renaming of aircraft texture-source classes. Rotators Collective made that adjustment to prevent conflicts with future or existing base-game updates. While this is not presented as an anti-cheat measure, tools or scripts that reference the old class names directly may need their object mappings updated.
New vehicle states can create a similar issue. Software may still load normally while assigning a generic label to a new variant, overlooking a crew position, or grouping the vehicle with its original model. That is more likely to matter for tools built around fixed DLC class lists than for software that discovers entities dynamically.
The 3.2 GB download should not be read as proof that offsets or protection systems changed. Models, textures, building geometry, and other packaged assets can account for a substantial update even when the published changelog is relatively short.
Vehicle and equipment additions
Version 1.1.9 gives the Orca (UP) helicopter firing-from-vehicle seats and lets players operate its left and right doors. A sand-colored AH-99 Blackfoot with stub wings has also joined the NATO (Desert) faction lineup.
Other content additions are smaller but visible:
- a Dust Goggles facewear variant combined with a bandana;
- a wounded texture for camels after death;
- corrected camouflage coverage on the SLR Para;
- repaired leg shadows on certain uniforms.
The update also fixes building geometry that could allow character models to clip into structures. In the Extraction scenario, skipping the introduction should now be less confusing for players who reassigned their default action key.
Gundrone audio changes awareness
The Gundrone’s audible range has increased from 50 meters to approximately 200 meters. That approximately fourfold distance makes sound a much earlier warning and reduces reliance on direct sight when determining whether a drone is nearby.
This is the patch’s clearest moment-to-moment gameplay adjustment. Visual overlays do not become inherently stronger because of it; regular audio now provides information sooner. Players who previously used the drone’s short audible range to approach targets may need to account for earlier detection.
What this means for players using software
There is no documented anti-cheat change in the 1.1.9 notes, so the update alone does not justify replacing an HWID spoofer or making system-level changes. Nor does the changelog support a mandatory 24-hour waiting period. The practical concern is DLC object recognition after class and vehicle configuration updates.
Update Western Sahara first, then review the software update status before launching an older build. If it is marked for maintenance, wait for compatibility confirmation rather than assuming that a successful launch means every vehicle label, seat, and entity type is being read correctly. Available builds can be checked through the Arma 3 software catalog, but the patch notes themselves do not confirm compatibility or safety for any specific product.
