Bodycam V0.8 Patch 5 adds anti-AFK as party rebuild continues

Bodycam V0.8 #5 introduces an early anti-AFK system and multiple fixes while the party feature is rebuilt around a new connectivity layer affecting anti-cheat.

Bodycam received its V0.8 #5 patch on September 18. The update delivers an initial anti-AFK system and a broad cleanup pass, while the larger effort to restore easier group queueing remains unfinished. That party rebuild is notable because the developers say it also has implications for anti-cheat.

Party play is still being rebuilt

This patch does not restore the ability to queue with friends more easily. Rather than simply switching the old party feature back on, the team is rebuilding it over a new connectivity layer. No completion date was provided.

The announcement explicitly connects that work to anti-cheat, but it does not say that V0.8 #5 itself deploys a new anti-cheat component. That distinction matters: the current build should be treated as a regular client patch with several systems changed, while the eventual party update may require closer attention if it also alters anti-cheat integration.

The first anti-AFK implementation

The feature arriving now is an early anti-AFK system. It is intended to identify genuinely inactive players and return them to their lobby, keeping active matches from being occupied by abandoned clients. The developers describe it as a raw first implementation and do not publish its timer or detection conditions.

The map-vote window has also been shortened. Together, the two changes target downtime around matches rather than weapon balance or competitive tuning. Anti-AFK is not presented as cheat detection, although unattended movement scripts and other basic methods of remaining in a session may no longer behave as expected.

Visual information and loadouts receive fixes

Several changes affect what players see during matches or while configuring equipment:

  • player counts should update more reliably across game modes;
  • green team squares should be less likely to disappear after state changes;
  • hosts can now see those indicators on bots correctly;
  • magnified optic reticles can be previewed in the loadout editor;
  • minor reticle sizing, positioning, and loadout camera alignment issues were corrected;
  • the SG9-X basic bundle now unlocks its magazine properly, while the Sabor flashlight socket has the intended size.

Grenade animations received new work across their curves, blending, and presentation, accompanied by fixes for grenade-related problems and flash effects. The patch also addresses lasers becoming invisible to other players in some situations.

On the rendering side, the tablet screen has been reworked to remove UI artifacts and produce more accurate, less intrusive reflections. A firing-range light blocker was fixed, and additional crash-reporting information is now collected from the settings and loadout areas to help diagnose stability issues.

What this means for players using software

Do not assume a build made for the previous client remains compatible immediately after V0.8 #5. Changes to player-state indicators, tablet rendering, and UI presentation can affect offsets, signatures, or rendering hooks even when the patch notes do not announce an anti-cheat rollout. Check the software update status before starting a session, and wait for a compatibility confirmation if the relevant build is still being reviewed.

ESP and other visual features deserve the first check because this patch touches player counts, team markers, lasers, and a rendered in-game screen. By contrast, the notes do not describe recoil or gunplay changes, so there is no factual basis here for rebuilding aim or recoil configurations solely because of the grenade and optic adjustments.

Nothing in the announcement points to a new hardware check or a ban wave, so V0.8 #5 alone does not establish a need for a different HWID spoofer. The more sensitive update may arrive later with the rebuilt party layer. Until then, use the Bodycam software catalog to find relevant options, but treat listed availability separately from confirmed support for a newly patched client.
