Gift card region guide 2026: US, Turkey, Europe and CIS
A gift card is the most reliable way to top up a store balance when a foreign card won’t go through. You buy a code, redeem it on an account in the right region — and pay for games, subscriptions and apps using the store’s internal currency. There’s just one catch: picking the right region. Let’s make sure you don’t get it wrong.
Why region decides everything
The same game can cost 2–3x more in different store regions. That’s why gift cards are split by country, and a card from one region only works on an account in that same region.
- United States (USD) — the most universal region with the widest catalog. The card works almost everywhere: App Store, Amazon, PSN, Xbox.
- Turkey (TRY) — historically low prices for games and subscriptions, though Turkey periodically raises prices and adds restrictions.
- Europe (EUR) — a stable mid-tier, convenient for the eurozone.
- Argentina, Kazakhstan, India — often the cheapest, but also the “fussiest” regions: stores actively fight regional arbitrage.
The golden rule: card region = account region. A US card can’t be redeemed on a Turkish account and vice versa. If you don’t have an account in the right region yet, create one first, then buy the card.
